The forward part of the cockpit benefits from a large bar that supports the cockpit table: the table can be lifted off and stowed, clearing the cockpit but leaving the bracing bar to hold and lean on. The helmsman has all control lines, sheets and halyards to hand so it’s quick and simple to ease sheets and bear away without any need for assistance from the rest of the crew.
